The Observatory on Good Practices for Patient Safety
Call for Good Practices 2009
The call for good practices 2009 is a project carried out by Agenas in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Policy and with the Technical Committee for Patient Safety (Coordination of Regions and Autonomous Provinces) according to an institutional mandate (Unified Conference Resolution 20 September 2007 and State-Regions Agreement of 20 march 2008), assigning to the Agenas the task of monitoring good practices implemented by the Italian healthcare organizations to assure patient safety.
Recipients
The call is addressed to all the public or private organizations accredited by Regional Healthcare System that can report their experiences to the Good Practice Observatory following the submission procedure defined by each Region. Good Practices should be concrete initiatives aimed at a more conscious and efficient management of clinical risk and patient safety.
Objectives
- To promote and diffuse the successful experiences enlarging the web archive available on the Agenas website. It allows exploitation and valorisation of local and regional experiences so as to permit healthcare organizations to learn from the other experiences and to improve their own services;
- To support monitoring of good practice for patient safety at the regional level;
- To promote and support transferring of good practices at regional and national levels;
- To promote the culture of self-evaluation and external evaluation of quality and safety;
- To inform citizens/patients about initiatives (location and impact) concerning clinical risk management on the national territory.
Experiences to submit
The present announcement is addressed to national patient safety interventions/experiences which include the following aspects:
- pertinence to “clinical risk management and patient safety” issues;
- carried out at regional, trust or unit level;
- based on evidence from literature;
- evaluated from efficiency and costs points of view.
Particular attention will be paid to experiences potentially reproducible/ transferable in other contests.
The Call 2009 is also addressed to health organizations which participated in the Call for Good Practices 2008 so that they submit updates/supplements to the experiences already reported at the Observatory, mainly in terms of:
- accomplishment of the pre-established objectives and/or more accurate evaluations of the results
- transfer to other organizations of the same region and/or at the interregional level
- implementation/elaboration of an economic analysis
